At least Microsoft has decided to try to give an impression that it is "consortiuming" ActiveX. For businesses to decide to invest in Inferno development they need to be sure that the one who controls the technology does not have conflicting interests with them. Guess how willing the competing telecommunications companies are to adopt a Lucent controlled "dial-tone for future networks"!
