re: native inferno



We are not going to do a free standalone distribution
until there is a reference piece of hardware. Intel,
Compaq and Cyrix have all announced sealed PC's.
We will release a native kernel for one of these machines
as soon as we can. I don't want to deal with PC
configuration issues at the moment. Inferno is way
more configurable than plan 9 to begin with. Adding
a huge amount of support for different PC before we
have loadable device drivers is not on the cards.

If your company wants to get a commercial source
license you can port yourself. I believe several
people are doing so.
