mk on solaris

I have a problem when rebuilding inferno. In the Readme file you can read=
 this:

   PATH=3D<inferno_root>/$SYSHOST/$OBJTYPE/bin:$PATH
   cd <inferno_root>/appl
   mk install

What is mk? Where do I find it?

I would be very grateful for any answers
